Join bourbon aficionado, Phil Hicks, Executive Chef Stephen Barck and your Innkeepers for a "Bourbon on the Bridge" a bourbon tasting and dinner elegantly served on our Bull Run Covered Bridge.
Phil Hicks was born and raised in Cincinnati, OH, just a stone’s throw from the rolling hills of Kentucky, the heart and soul of Bourbon Country. First exposed to the venerable spirit at a young age (courtesy of his grandmother’s Christmas eggnog), he has been a fan ever since. Phil has studied the making, tasting & serving of bourbon for years. He obtained formal training on distilled spirits through Boston University’s Gastronomy Program. He enjoys talking about bourbon almost as much as drinking it. At this lively and informative event you will sample five distinct bourbons as Phil explains the differences in the way they were created and how to enjoy them!
After the bourbon tasting Chef Stephen will present his 3-course dinner, prepared using locally sourced ingredients including starter, entree and dessert. During the tasting, you'll "cleanse your palete" with an assortment of delicious cheeses, bread or crackers and rich, crumbled dark chocolate.
In between courses, your Innkeepers will tell you a bit about the history of our iconic lattice-truss Covered Bridge along with other odd bits of fact & fiction concerning our historic Tavern, the Egopantis, the Mighty Mulpus and our Covered Bridge.
Join us for fine bourbon, a great meal, a little history, a unique dining venue, and lots of laughs with good company.
