This class is geared for the older child who wants to explore the powerful drama of black and white. We will look at the exciting portraits of Chuck Close, using charcol and conte crayon, the extreme expressionist works of Kathe Kollowitz and the German movement followed by the dark, moody landscapes of R.R. Ryder and Leon Spilliart. Black and White is a very forceful form of art, and unlike color it provides directness and strength. Learning about the importance of volume, light and emotion is part of this workshops emphasis.
