Acton promotes five police officers
On Tuesday September 22, about 100 people, including public safety employees, family members, residents, and other town staff came to Acton Town Hall to honor the promotion of five Acton police officers. After Acton-Boxborough Regional High School student Ananya Balaji performed the National Anthem, Police Chief Doug Sturniolo introduced Town Manager John Mangiaratti for opening remarks. Mr. Mangiaratti emphasized the residents’, and his own, personal pride in the professionalism of Acton’s public safety personnel, and their dedication to the town.
Chief Sturniolo then introduced each of the honorees in turn:
- Chris Hodges promoted to Deputy Chief
- David Joachim promoted to Lieutenant
- Keith Campbell promoted to Lieutenant
- Marc Symington promoted to Sergeant
- Kyle Monahan promoted to Sergeant.
The Chief listed education and other accomplishments of each officer, and the trainer or other specific roles that they’ve held in the department.
After Town Clerk Leo Mercado administered the oath of office, a family member pinned each officer’s new badge to their uniform. The smiles all-around made for great pictures, as a spouse, child, or parent of each officer came forward to perform the pinning.
