Fidelity Bank donates $5,000 to Worcester Housing Authority
Funding to support displaced residents of Elm Park Towers

(Leominster, Mass.)Fidelity Bank today announced it donated $5,000 to the Worcester Housing Authority (WHA) to support the residents who were displaced at Elm Park Towers, located at 425 Pleasant Street, Worcester, following a pipe burst at the building on February 4.

Elm Park Towers consists of 195 apartment units over 16 floors and provides housing to approximately 250 elders and persons with disabilities. While all residents have been safely evacuated and are staying with family and friends or have been placed by the WHA in hotels until repairs can be completed, residents are still in need of donations to help with daily needs.

“The lives of these individuals and families was turned upside down with no warning during one of the coldest days we have experienced in recent history,” said Joseph Silva, Chief Lending Officer, Fidelity Bank. “While the residents remain out of their homes, we hope this donation will help them with food, clothing and the items needed as they wait to return home.”

Due to the damage from the pipe burst, it could be some time before power is restored to the building.

“While we are committed to ensuring our displaced residents are safe and fed, this donation from Fidelity Bank will help us maintain our level of services and provide support to those who need it,” said Alex Corrales, CEO, Worcester Housing Authority.

The Worcester Housing Authority has established the ability to accept monetary donations for residents, with donations going directly to the residents to assist with daily needs. To make a donation, please visit http://worcesterha.org/emergency_donation.html.
