Nashoba Air & BoilerWorks Prepares for Extreme Cold and Potential Snowfall

Company Prioritizes Emergency No-Heat Calls and Customer Safety

Littleton, MA — Nashoba Air & BoilerWorks is preparing for a period of extreme cold temperatures and the potential for significant snowfall expected from Friday through Monday in the Littleton area. During severe weather events, the company’s top priority is ensuring the safety, comfort, and well-being of its customers—particularly those experiencing no-heat or emergency heating situations.

To proactively respond to an anticipated increase in emergency service calls, Nashoba Air & BoilerWorks will temporarily pause all scheduled maintenance visits for the week of the 26th. This measure allows the service team to focus fully on urgent no-heat calls and maintain the fastest possible response times during extreme conditions.

Important Cold-Weather Tips for Homes and Businesses

Nashoba Air & BoilerWorks encourages customers to take the following precautions during extreme cold:

  • Keep heating systems running continuously. Avoid shutting systems off or setting them back overnight during extreme cold.

  • Do not panic if indoor temperatures drop slightly (1–5 degrees) while the system is still running. If the system is producing heat, it is operating as designed.

  • Most heating systems are designed for outdoor temperatures around 5°F and above. When temperatures drop below zero, systems may struggle to maintain higher indoor set points.

  • Use supplemental or backup heat if necessary, particularly for homes with heat pump systems. Options may include fireplaces, electric heat, backup boilers, or approved space heaters.

  • Check and clear exhaust and intake pipes if snow accumulates. Blocked vents can shut systems down or create unsafe conditions.

  • Protect plumbing by keeping cabinet doors open near sinks on exterior walls and allowing a small trickle of water if frozen pipes are a concern.

  • Keep driveways and walkways shoveled and accessible. Technician safety is critical during severe weather, and unsafe conditions may delay emergency response.

Nashoba Air & BoilerWorks will have additional on-call staff available through Monday night. As long as road conditions permit, the team will remain available to respond to emergency heating needs.

Customers experiencing a no-heat emergency or who have concerns as the weather approaches are encouraged to call (978) 216-0554.
