Habitat for Humanity North Central Massachusetts receives $20,000 grant from Lowe’s to repair homes

Acton, MA (12- 7 -2023) – Habitat for Humanity North Central Massachusetts, Inc. (Habitat NCM) received a $20,000 grant to help repair homes in north central Massachusetts.

With the support of this grant, Habitat NCM replaced windows for safety and energy efficiency, repaired an entranceway and two roofs, weatherized the exterior of a home, and improved accessibility for a homeowner.  The homeowners ranged in age and family size, but all were low income and did not have funds to complete the repairs without the aid of the grant and Habitat NCM.

“The funding from Lowe’s helped us to complete repairs that allowed these homeowners to remain in their homes,” stated Carolyn Read, Executive Director of Habitat NCM. “We are very grateful for the funding as are these local, low-income families.”

The funding from Lowe’s is part of a two-year, $6 million donation to Habitat for Humanity International to support home repair and preservation efforts in owner-occupied homes. Through this partnership, more than 75 local Habitat affiliates will complete more than 480 projects this year to address critical health and safety issues in homes across the U.S. Since 2003, Lowe’s and Habitat have worked together to help more than 18,000 people build or improve a place to call home.
