The Organization
Founded in 1908, the Sandy Pond School Association, Inc. is an all-volunteer organization whose sole purpose is to protect, preserve, and promote public access to and awareness of Ayer's historic Sandy Pond Schoolhouse. SPSA is a 501c3 organization whose primary revenue sources are donations, grants, and member contributions.
Role & Position Description
The Treasurer is one of four officers and a member of the all-volunteer SPSA Board, which meets monthly, either in-person or online. The other officer positions are President, Vice President, and Secretary. The Board currently comprises 6 members. The Treasurer has primary responsibility for all things financial. As of this writing, the position’s responsibilities include:
- Managing and reconciling the Association’s bank account and handling all deposits and payments.
- Preparing quarterly reports for the Board and an End of Year Financial Report.
- Filing the Association’s annual federal tax return. (Form 990-N)
- Filing the Association’s annual report to the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Corporations Division.
- Preparing a report of revenues & expenses for use in preparation of the Association’s Form PC submitted annually to the Non-Profit Organizations/Public Charities Division of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Office of the Attorney General.
