About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Financial Counselor to join our team. The Financial Counselor works directly with patients prior to discharge to review financial responsibilities and collect applicable co-pays and other monies associated with their admission.
The ideal candidate brings strong knowledge of healthcare insurance and reimbursement along with the professionalism and compassion needed to work effectively with patients receiving inpatient psychiatric care.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years of previous Financial Counselor experience required; inpatient psychiatric experience strongly preferred
- Must obtain MassHealth Financial Counselor Certification within 90 days of hire
- Knowledge of Massachusetts insurance plans as well as commercial in-state and out-of-state insurance, Medicaid and managed care plans
- Strong Microsoft Office, computer and typing skills, with the ability to quickly learn new technology and software
- Comfortable and experienced working with psychiatric patients
- Strong communication, organization and interpersonal skills
