Full time 40 hours, Monday - Friday 8:30am - 5pm
The Financial Counselor is responsible for meeting with patients prior to discharge to collect any co-pays and/or monies associated with their admission.
As the Financial Counselor:
- Reviews and confirms that appropriate billing documentation has been obtained
- Maintains knowledge of all insurance guidelines and applies to collections process
- Billing and follow-up of all Self-Pay accounts
- Meets with patients to review financial responsibilities, assists patients in applying for MassHealth or other coverage options
- Performs related duties as required or as assigned by Director of Patient Financial Services
The Financial Counselor will have:
- Previous Financial Counselor experience required; minimally 2 years, preferably in an inpatient psychiatric facility.
- Must obtain the MassHealth Financial Counselor Certification within 90 days of hire
- Must be knowledgeable in Massachusetts insurances as well as commercially insured in state and out of state insurances, Medicaid, and Managed Care insurance
- Experience in Microsoft Office and other computer software products and/or grasp technology quickly
- Sufficient typing and computer skills.
- Comfortable and knowledgeable psychiatric patients
