Full Time Police Patrol Officer
The Ayer Police Department is seeking applications for (2) Full Time Police Officers.
Police Patrol Officers for the Town of Ayer are responsible for responding to emergency and non-emergency calls for service received by the Ayer Shirley Regional Emergency Communications Center, ensuring the safety and security of the citizens, businesses and property of the Town. The scope of responsibilities include: motor vehicle / traffic enforcement, criminal law enforcement, assist w/ medical emergencies, investigations and general calls for service. Police Patrol Officers are responsible for adhering to all policies and procedures, as well as rules and regulations and other written directives relevant to the operation of the Ayer Police Department.
The Ayer Police Department welcomes all interested candidates to apply, and will train selected entry level candidates. Residents, Veterans and those with college degrees are encouraged to apply. Transfer candidates considered for this position should have a MPTC Full Time Academy certification, a POST certification and a degree from an accredited college or university.
All candidates must meet the following: US Citizen, a High School Diploma / GED, a valid driver’s license, a valid LTC, and no felony conviction or misdemeanor conviction within the last 5 years. Selected candidates must also complete and pass: an oral interview, a comprehensive background investigation, and a medical and psychological evaluation. Candidates who are selected must also complete and pass the Department’s Field Training Program and one-year probationary period.
The Police Patrol Officer is a unionized position of the Ayer Police Patrol Officers Association and is subject to all clauses within the contract between the Town of Ayer and the Association. Starting yearly salary is $56,951 - $76,123, depending on law enforcement experience and exemplary employment history.
