Job Description
The Ayer Shirley Regional School District is looking for a qualified School Adjustment Counselor to promote and assist academic, social, emotional, career, and learning development for all students.
Responsibilities include:

·  Support diversity, equity, and inclusion for all students and families
·  Design and deliver social-emotional learning through classroom lessons, school-wide initiatives (Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports), group and individual counseling, educator consultation and training, and parent workshops
·  Parent communication, teacher consultation, and coordination of Section 504 accommodation plans
·  Work collaboratively and consult as a team member with teachers, principals, and other school personnel for purposes of identifying, evaluating, and recommending interventions for the adjustment of students
·  Meet with parents as needed to obtain information, and/or to suggest interventions to provide support for students in need
·  Responsible for the individual counseling of IEP and 504 students with social/emotional goals as determined through the team meeting process
·  Attend IEP/504 meetings that are attached to the caseload and any additional requested meetings. May be asked to write social-emotional goals, Part A assessments, and any other appropriate paperwork as needed
·  Work in conjunction with the Special Education and Student Services Department
·  Responsible for writing social-emotional goals, Part A assessments, FBA, and any other appropriate paperwork as assigned
·  Communicate with third-party providers as appropriate to each student
·  Responsible for pre-referral conferences with school personnel in a team context for the appropriate intervention for a student
·  Provide crisis intervention and conflict resolution services when requested by school personnel
·  Participate and organize counseling activities that contribute to the effectiveness and operation of the school

Position Type: Full-time
Salary: $55,430 to $110,948 Per Year

Job Requirements
  • Hold a valid license through the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education as a School Social Worker/School Adjustment Counselor, All levels.
  • LICSW or LMHC in addition to DESE certification helpful.
  • Previous experience with implementing the MA Model 2.0 or 3.0 School Counseling approach preferred
  • Demonstrated success in mediation and relationship-building
