Winter Exploration for Families: Cozy Critters
Sunday, January 21, 2024 from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. at the Bill Ashe Visitor Facility, 80 Hospital Road in Devens, MA
Dive into the enchanting world of winter wildlife! Families with children ages 5 to 8 are invited to explore the wonders of the natural world during NRWA's Cozy Critters Winter Exploration. This free workshop will be led by NRWA naturalists Leonna Veng, AmeriCorps Youth Education Coordinator, and Gaynor Bigelbach, NRWA Education Associate. We'll take a guided trail walk through the woods where we'll unravel the secrets of animal habitats during the winter months. From tracking footprints to spotting cozy homes, we'll learn about the ingenious ways animals create homes for themselves in the cold season. Along the walk we will gather materials to craft our own Cozy Critter Cabin. After our walk, we'll go inside the Bill Ashe Visitor Facility to create our cabins. NRWA Discovery Backpacks will be provided to each family team so that participants have a variety of field guides, hand lenses, binoculars, and other resources to use during this program. It's a perfect blend of education, outdoor activity, and creativity, fostering a deeper connection with nature for the whole family.
Registration is required; space is limited. Register today. Questions? Email the program leaders. This free NRWA youth program is part of a series supported by a grant from the Bruce J. Anderson Foundation. FREE
