Please join us on October 10th at the Abbot School when the Westford Coalition of Non-Violence and Live for Liv foundation will co-sponsor a Westford Take Back the Night event. This event is part of an international movement to encourage communities to come together to speak out against domestic violence. There will be short presentations from victims and victims advocates beginning at 6:30 in the gym, followed by a candlelight vigil.
Here is some information about all 3 of the presenters:
Malcolm Astley is the father of slain teenager Lauren Astley. Lauren was the young woman from Wayland who was tragically murdered by her ex-boyfriend in July of 2011 shortly after she graduated from high school.
Malik Washington, Executive Director of the William Kellibrew Foundation which is an international organization advocating for civil, human, women, children and victims’ rights. William has inspired and empowered many through his work. William’s story, which included a childhood of violence and trauma has been heard in over 120 countries with an audience well over 45 million.
Liam Lowney is the Executive Director of the Massachusetts Office for Victim Assistance (MOVA). MOVA is devoted to upholding and advancing the rights of crime victims in this state. They provide innovative victim advocacy through outreach and education.
Please join us for this very important night to support victims and families impacted by domestic violence.
