Fall is on the horizon which means it is time for a new series of free Wednesday Walks with NRWA Educators. These popular nature walks are funded by a grant from the Community Foundation of North Central MA. We invite you to bring your curiosity and join us for a weekly exploration of local trails and ecosystems on Wednesdays, beginning September 13th through November 1st, from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m. Our 2023 schedule of walks is as follows: September 13: Cowdrey Nature Center in Lunenburg September 20: Valley Farm in Shirley September 27: Willard Brook in Townsend October 4: Rauscher Farm in Clinton October 11: Flat Rock Wildlife Sanctuary in Fitchburg October 18: General Field and Surrenden Farm in Groton October 25: Lake Wampanoag Wildlife Sanctuary in Ashburnham November 1: Rocky Pond Trail in Leominster State Forest Each walk will last 1.5 hours, and is designed to be family friendly. Appropriate for adults and families with children ages 7 and up, backpack babies welcome! We encourage the close observation of local flora and fauna found in different habitats. Slow down, tune in, and look deeply! For the safety of all, no dogs are allowed. Appropriate hiking attire is encouraged. Mosquito repellent is highly recommended. Registration is required and space is limited. Register online by clicking on the walk(s) of your choice in the list above. Directions to parking and trailhead will be provided upon registration.
