The Townsend Congregational Church will host the lawn party at the Townsend Military Band’s Thursday, June 29th, concert on the Townsend Common. Church members will be selling hot dogs, hamburgers, cheeseburgers, sausages with or without peppers and onions, and chips to hungry concertgoers. Fresh fruit cups, fried dough, popcorn, juice boxes, hot coffee, and cold soda and bottled water will also be available for purchase.
There will be a wide variety of homemade cookies, breads, cakes, pies, and candies to enjoy during the concert or to take home.
A few games of interest to children will be set up on the Common that evening.
The Townsend Military Band will open its evening program at 7:30 by playing “The Thunderer March” by Sousa and “An Irving Berlin Salute” arranged by Jennings. “A Trumpeter’s Lullaby” arranged by Lang, “Instant Concert” by Walters, and “The NC-4 March” by Bigelow will be performed. “Disney at the Movies” arranged by Higgins, Murtha’s arrangement of “Glen Miller in Concert”, and “The Billboard March” by Klohr will be included in the first portion of the program.
Bagley’s “America Victorious” and Burden’s arrangement of “Sounds of Simon and Garfunkel” will be played following intermission. Duthoit’s arrangement of “West Side Story”, “Our America” arranged by Higgins, and Bulla’s arrangement of the “Armed Forces Tribute” will be included in the second portion of the concert. “The Stars and Stripes Forever” by Sousa will be performed before the Townsend Band concludes its concert at 9:30 by playing the “Star Spangled Banner”.
