FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
On Tuesday, January 26, 2016, at 5:30 PM, the Ayer Planning Board has invited members of all Town boards and committees to attend an information session on the proposed Ayer Zoning Bylaw. Judi Barrett of RKG Associates will provide an overview of the proposed bylaw and address questions and comments. This information session will take place at Ayer Town Hall, 1 Main Street, Ayer, MA. The public is welcome.
In 2011, the Ayer Planning Board presented a proposed zoning bylaw to Town Meeting. This new bylaw was the product of years of effort by the Planning Board and our consultant, Judi Barrett. The proposed bylaw incorporates comments and feedback collected from staff and boards and committees. Given membership changes that had occurred on the Planning Board and other pressing matters at the time, Town Meeting decided to table the proposed zoning bylaw and the Planning Board agreed. In 2016 the Ayer Planning Board intends to bring this bylaw to Town Meeting for consideration.
Improvements proposed to the Ayer Zoning Bylaw include:
• New Mixed-Use Transition District
• Parking requirements overhauled and updated
– Provisions for bicycle parking
– Waivers and exemptions for downtown area
– Shared and off-site parking provisions
• More effective, flexible cluster development bylaw
• Inclusionary zoning
• Landscaping & Open Space standards for nonresidential development
