LANCASTER — The second annual Lancaster Winter Festival is Saturday, Feb. 8, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. The back-up date is Feb. 22.
The event is hosted by the Thayer Field Foundation, in support of the revitalization of the Nathaniel Thayer Memorial Park, located behind the former Memorial School.
The day will feature food, drinks and a bake sale, snowmobile rides, snow games, ice sculpting, a chili contest, ice skating, with free lessons, live music, sledding, an art show, a snowman contest and demonstrations of cross-country skiing and snow shoeing, offered by the Emergency Management System.
The schedule includes:
11 a.m. to 5 p.m.: EMS demonstrations;
11:30 a.m.: Winter softball game;
1 p.m.: Mommy/Daddy Iditarod;
3 p.m.: Silly hat contest;
3:30 p.m.: Drum circle; and
4 p.m.: Bonfire.
Lancaster EMS will be collecting new or gently-used coats, gloves and hats, which will be donated to WHEAT Community Connections.
The Worcester County Sheriff's Office will demonstrate the IRIS Recognition Program from noon to 3 p.m., which is used to identify missing children and seniors.
