Visualize this: After frantically trying to get ready for your annual fundraiser, everyone is now seated at the table, and the emcee calls your name to the podium. Do your hands shake? Is the room spinning as you are walking up the three steps to the stage Are you suddenly feeling thirsty? If you've experienced any of the above symptoms while speaking in public, please read on... You are not alone! Even those who seem to do it so naturally have some jitters before their big moments. The largest fear may be whether or not you represented yourself and your organization well. This quote rings true for many occasions, but especially during those opportunities for you to shine in front of potential volunteers and donors: "Proper Planning Prevents Poor Performance!" Non-Profit leaders are invited to attend a highly-interactive session on public speaking, facilitated by Enterprise Bank's Learning & Development Specialist, Sophy Theam. Tips will be provided on planning, practicing, and making the presentation itself. Five to seven volunteers* will prepare and present a 3-5 minute pitch on why a group of people should be donating money or time to your specific cause. Presentations will be made towards the end of the session, with constructive feedback provided by the audience and facilitator. Registration is required *Please indicate whether or not you would like to volunteer to prepare a "pitch."
