Automotive Basics : Understand the basics of how an engine works. Change the oil. Rotate/change the tires. Understand the importance of good automotive maintenance. You’ll be ready to drive before long!
Computer Animation/Movie Making: Basic 2D animation using Adobe Flash is the way to make the web come alive! Create simple characters and learn about popular animation history and techniques while creating small scenes. Learn filming techniques such as editing, camera angles, storyboards, special effects and more. Create a short film for your portfolio. This could be the first step toward the Red Carpet! (Be sure to bring a flash drive with you each day.)
Cosmetology: Learn the life-long skills for beautiful hair, healthy skin and strong nails. A fruity-facial, Taylor Swift-like twirls or bold brightly patterned nails – it is all here for you to learn!
Culinary Basics: The Life of a Professional Chef is Fun, Fast and Fascinating! Learn to safely and effectively use kitchen utensils, follow recipes and the importance of measurements. This educational (and tasty) program will have you impressing family and friends
Cupcake and cake decorating: Fun little morsels are perfect for learning decorating techniques. This fun experience will provide an understanding of the intricacies and precision of pastry and baking. (Students will bring undecorated cakes/cupcakes to work on each day.)
Game Design: Start with an opportunity to design video game characters and environments. Continue with the creative process of brainstorming, designing, and editing – and learn the basic skills of GameMaker – This could be the beginning of a lifetime of Gaming! (Students must bring a flash drive to store their work.)
Digital Imagery Visual: Learn what it takes to publish your own newsletter --- for your friends or family. Create logo reflecting your interests and ideas. (Bring a flash drive to store your work each day.)
Animation – Learn the basics of Adobe Flash animation. Understand the creative process with brainstorming, thumbnails, storyboards and editing and bring your wildest imaginations to life! (Bring a flash drive to store your work each day.)
Digital Photography: Composition + Exposure = a Great Picture. Learn how to take your photos from ‘just o.k.’ to fabulous. Bring your own Digital Camera and a flash drive to store your work.
Fitness and Games –Learn the basics of lifelong fitness skills and leisure games. Activities will include: Circuit training, strength training and cardio endurance – games will be based on increasing skills with Golf, Volleyball, Soft/Baseball and more.
Machine Tool Technology An entry level, but hand-on experience that duplicates the operations utilized in industry. Production of metal and plastic parts by milling, turning, drilling, and grinding. This is the heart of our mechanized world! Machinist/Technicians are in high demand in an ever changing industry. Students will learn the layout process, setup procedures necessary to operate lathes, grinders, and milling machines, While also gaining experience on the computer numerically controlled machines(CNC), CAD/CAM software and other fundamental programming tools. Boots are always required in the shop as well as jean pants, other safety equipment will be provided.
Robotics! Use the latest Lego Mindstorm NXT software and Technic building pieces to build and program robots. Take on real world design challenges while learning science and engineering concepts from gear ratios to infrared sensors. The session introduces students to the engineering design process as they build and program with standard LEGO bricks and a programmable LEGO brick. Their projects will help them gain exposure to hands-on, open-ended design projects.
Teaching Tots: Learn what makes small children safe AND happy! This is a great start for babysitters as well as those interested in teaching as a profession. Basic first aid and cpr are also covered. Add a Certificate of Completion to your references!
Theater Arts/crafts: What is Theater? Learn the importance of communication on stage; understand theatrical design and the fu stions of production staff. Bring these pieces together and understand the importance of collaboration between each facet of the procution. Then you will be ready to focus on reading a short one act play, and come away with a firmer grasp and deeper understanding of the planning and execution of a theatrical production.
Web & Design Graphics: Use Adobe Dreamweaver and Photoshop to learn the basics of web design. Create your own personal web page dedicated to your favorite subjects, sports or hobbies. This one is ‘all about you’!
Woodworking: Make a stable and useful wood step stool while learning the basics of hand cutting wood, assembly, finishing, sealing a project that is sure to be one your family treasures for years to come!
