Urban blues was becoming rather monotonous and repetitive when up popped (or is it exploded?) Popa Chubby from Brooklyn who gave the whole thing a damn good shaking up.
Warning: this blues is not for wimps; this is the hard stuff that respects no rules, or anything else for that matter. This blues gets straight to the point and no messing about. This is the blues of the 21st century; New York City Blues, "know what I'm talkin' about"?
His "Brooklyn Basement Blues" album was a revelation; "The Good the Bad and the Chubby" was even more hard-hitting and largely inspired by the 9/11 attacks that were deeply felt by Chubby.
His first release on Provogue Records was the Blues Rock masterpiece "The Fight Is On." 2010 saw his highest grossing year to date with concerts in 11 countries. In 2011 Popa rocked the "Monsters Of Blues Rock Tour" with the legendary Walter Trout, in France, Germany, Switzerland and The U.K.
Popa Chubby is an artist who stands for musical and personal integrity. His shows are always hot; red hot. This is not music to sit and contemplate subtle chord changes and lacy fills. This is a freight train barrelling down the mountain. Get onboard or step aside.
Popa's last album, "Universal Breakdown Blues" proves, once again, that Chubby is a major force to be reckoned with. Get onboard...
