Our March program celebrates the global travels and diverse influences of some of our favorite composers -- including a world premiere by young Bahamian composer Stefan Thompson -- creating a rich tapestry of sound that will be meaningful for both the orchestra players and patrons alike.
Acclaimed cellist Nicholas Canellakis will be our guest soloist on Dvořák's Cello Concerto. Praised as a “superb young soloist” (The New Yorker), Canellakis is a multifaceted artist who has forged a unique voice combining his talents as soloist, chamber musician, curator, filmmaker, composer/arranger, and teacher.
His latest album (b)romance (First Hand Records, 2023) featuring some of his original compositions and arrangements, has received over one million streams on Apple Music.
Canellakis plays on an outstanding Jean-Baptiste Vuillaume cello, from 1840.
