Nia is a transformative sensory movement practice, combining dance, martial arts and mindfulness. More than just an excellent cardio workout, Nia is a holistic fitness practice addressing each aspect of life – body, mind and soul. Nia philosophy is that every person can enhance their potential to live a healthy and meaningful life by engaging their senses and listening to their bodies.
Based on the intelligent design of the body, each Nia workout brings mindfulness to the movement experience leaving us energized, mentally clear, and emotionally balanced. Integrating elements of healing arts practices including Alexander Technique and Feldenkrais, our body awareness expands, and releases unhealthy movement patterns.
Nia is non-impact, practiced barefoot, and adaptable to individual needs and abilities. All ages are welcome.
“Revival”, this is the first of four Fall Nia experiences. Susanne Liebich, Certified Black Belt Nia Instructor, created an inspiring and uplifting montage of bluesy and soulful music from the Allman Brothers anthology. Taken from the title of a song, the theme “Revival” stands for “a reawakening; a restoration to bodily or mental vigor, to life or consciousness”. We will dance for the first hour; then we will reflect on our movement through journaling and discussion. The last ten minutes will be a guided imagery, bringing our bodies into a state of complete relaxation. The workshop will conclude with tea and refreshments. $30pp. All welcome: mothers and daughters, couples, friends, solo.
