Just in time for Easter, explore the art, symbolism and joy in creating pysanky. Pysanky are Ukrainian Easter Eggs, decorated using beeswax and dyes that are applied in layers. No experience is necessary; all materials will be provided. (Please bring your own apron.) Each participant will create a unique and beautiful egg in this hands-on workshop.
Instructor Karen Brouillette is a wife and mother of seven children. She has enjoyed the art of pysanky for over 10 years. Her passions include pysanky, monarch butterflies, iconography and home education. She is a docent at the Museum of Russian Icons.
Instructor Susan Dow is a wife and mother of six children and home educator. She is an artist specializing in watercolor, but loves to create with any medium. Susan enjoys nature, reading and time in the garden. She has been decorating pysanky eggs for several years. Karen and Susan have taught pysanky workshops together throughout New England.
Fee: $25 per person for members, $30 per person for nonmembers. Class is open to adults and children ages 12 and up; ages 12 to 15 must be accompanied by an adult. Registration is limited to 12 people. Advance registration required at (978) 598-5000. Please note: registration fees are non-refundable unless the Museum cancels the class.
