Moonlight Tour of the Center Cemetery Saturday, September 20, at 7 p.m. The Center Burial Ground
On Saturday, September 20, at 7 p.m. the Harvard Historical Society will host a living history tour by moonlight (with some electrical help) in the center cemetery. This will be a fundraiser to support programming for HHS and maintenance of its buildings and collections.
Following the tour, attendees are invited for a dessert buffet at 1 Elm Street.
Hear Margaret Bromfield Blanchard talk about her colorful grandfather and her efforts to found Bromfield Academy. William K. Harrod and William Savage will tell tales from their storybook lives. Share Arathusa Sawyer Atherton’s tension as she watches her father’s participate in the underground railroad. Listen to Clara Endicott Sears (visiting from Mount Auburn) tell of the religious fervor of the mid-19th century and how one Harvard residence became known as the “craziest place in Massachusetts.” Other former residents as well will be waiting for you with their stories.
