INFORMATIONAL HEARING

The Joint Committee on Public Health will hold its first-ever informational hearing in Bolton to provide information about Lyme disease prevention, diagnosis, treatment, & advancing research. In 2014, Massachusetts had the third-highest infection rate of Lyme disease in the United States, causing state health officials to declare the tickborne illness an epidemic. In response to the spike in Lyme disease cases in the 495/MetroWest region & across the Commonwealth, Representative Kate Hogan, Chair of the Joint Committee on Public Health, invites you to learn more.
Speakers will include:
- Representative David Linsky & Senator Anne Gobi, sponsors of Lyme disease insurance legislation
- Kevin Cranston, Assistant Commissioner and Director of the Bureau of Infectious Diseases and Laboratory Science at the Department of Public Health
- Dr. Nevena Zubcevik, Rehabilitation Specialist at Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital & Massachusetts General Hospital
- Dr. Mark Klempner, Executive Vice Chancellor for MassBiologics and Professor of Medicine at the University of Massachusetts Medical School
