"It All Means Townsend," a new movie will be hosted by the Townsend Historical Society on Wednesday, August 27, 6:30 p.m., at the Meeting Hall at the Library/Senior Center complex, 12 Dudley Rd., Townsend. The movie will be shown on a large, wide screen during this free event for all ages and for the wider community. Light refreshments will be served. All are welcome.
Three Townsend men, Donald Keefe, Wallace King, and Robert Tumber will share their knowledge and memories of the town during the 1930s through today. Topics will include the Great Depression, the flood and hurricane of 1936 and 1938. All three men served their country in World War II, and enjoyed the rural peace, celebrations, and the fabric of life in this small town that was home. The film includes historic photographs from the Society's collection and was written by Anne O'Connor and produced by the Society.
