Swing into the holidays with Duke Ellington’s famous jazz interpretation of Tchaikovsky’s “Nutcracker Suite," arranged by Ellington and Billy Strayhorn. Introduced in 1960 as a hit album, the suite features Sugar Rum Cherry (Dance of the Sugar-Plum Fairy), Danse of the Floreadores (Waltz of the Flowers), Arabesque Cookie (Arabian Dance), and more. The concert will also include other seasonal favorites arranged for Big Band.
The programs of Groton Hill Music Center are supported in part by a grant from the Massachusetts Cultural Council, a state agency, and with funds from the council administered by the Local Cultural Councils.
