Fruitlands Museum is honored to host a new exhibit of photographs by renowned photojournalists Gary Knight, Teun Voeten and Roger Leo. The exhibit opens in the Art Gallery on September 11, 2011 and runs through November 15th. Witness to Global Conflict: 9/11 and Beyond will illustrate the lives of US combat soldiers serving overseas, particularly within the unique landscapes of Afghanistan and Iraq.
Please join us for the opening which will feature a military color guard from the 1st Battalion 25th Marines "New England's Own," and the 110th National Guard honor guard. Speakers include Brendan O'Byrne who will talk about the life of soldiers and the role of conflict journalists who convey their experience to the public. Also presenting is John Gerlaugh, a former Marine who works for the Secretary of Defense on policy in Afghanistan, and Rose Annese the Blue to Gold liaison for the Blue Star Mother's of North Central Massachusetts. After the ceremony guests will be directed to the Art Gallery to view the exhibition.
