* Forks Over Knives:Free Film Screening for NRWA Outdoor Wellness
Wednesday, January 30, 2013 at 7:00 p.m. NRWA River Resource Center, 592 Main Street (Rt. 119) in Groton
Continuing our topic of healthy lifestyles, the NRWA will be screening the film Forks Over Knives. The feature film examines the profound claim that most, if not all, of the degenerative diseases that afflict us can be controlled, or even reversed, by rejecting animal-based and processed foods. The filmmakers put forth the following: “Two out of every three of us are overweight. Cases of diabetes are exploding, especially amongst our younger population. About half of us are taking at least one prescription drug. Major medical operations have become routine, helping to drive health care costs to astronomical levels. Heart disease, cancer and stroke are the country’s three leading causes of death, even though billions are spent each year to “battle” these very conditions. Millions suffer from a host of other degenerative diseases. Could it be there’s a single solution to all of these problems?” The film provides a good starting point for discussing various current views on healthy diets and their role in overall good health.
This film screening is free and open to the public, funded in part by a grant from the Nashoba Valley Community Healthcare Fund, and is being shown in support of the NRWA’s Outdoor Wellness Walking program. Pre-registration is requested for planning purposes. To pre-register, contact Pam Gilfillan, NRWA Development Associate, at (978) 448-0299, or email Pam. FREE
