* DEMENTIA BEHAVIORS & NON-PHARMACOLOGICAL INTERVENTIONS

DEMENTIA BEHAVIORS &
NON-PHARMACOLOGICAL INTERVENTIONS
TUESDAY, MAY 5
VIRTUAL PRESENTATION: 12 P.M.

Presented by Alicia Seaver, Vice President of Memory Care Operations & Certified Memory Impairment Specialist

Dementia’s deteriorating effects on the brain cause neurotransmitter disturbances, neuronal damage and poor integrative function that often manifest in challenging behavioral changes.

Understanding how a person’s cognitive deficits affect their functional ability helps care providers choose appropriate non-pharmacological care approaches to calm, reassure and communicate with them. Upon completion of this course, participants will better understand:

  • How dementia can affect the brain, body, personality and behaviors
  • Goals of non-pharmacological therapies
  • Various types of non-pharmacological therapies
  • How to manage challenging behaviors with  non-pharmacological interventions
