Coping with Loss: The Path to Healing

Presenter Cheryl Amari has been an educator for the past 18 years, teaching at the high school and college level. She has a Master’s Degree in Pastoral Counseling from Boston College and is Certified in Thanatology from the Association for Death Education and Counseling. As the founder and owner of GriefTeach, Cheryl is committed to helping the bereaved and those who care about them. Her passion for teaching is evident in her innovative, engaging, and informative presentations.
In this lively and interactive workshop, we will examine many types of loss including physical death as well as “non-death” losses such as broken relationships, illness, job loss, and other life stressors. Participants will have an opportunity to reflect on their losses in a safe and structured environment and learn the 3 steps necessary on the path to healing.
With professional instruction, discussion, self-reflection, and meaningful exercises participants will be invited to ex-plore their grief and gain valuable coping skills for their unique grief journey. Topics covered will include: 6 major types of loss, common myths and misconceptions about grief, 6 manifestations of grief, helpful models of grief, what does “good grief” look like? complicated and uncomplicated grief, the transformative power of grief, signs of heal-ing and healing activities.
Open to all. $15 per person fee, payable at the door.
