Clean-up of the Monoosnoc Brook Greenway in Leominster
Saturday April 12, 2014 from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m.
Calling all clean-up volunteers! The Nashua River Watershed Association is leading a clean-up of the banks and walkways near Monoosnoc Brook in the areas near Monument Square and the Mall at Whitney Field. Volunteers are needed to help pick up trash and do spring walkway raking. All ages welcome! This is a great opportunity for families, youth groups, church groups, local business employees, and others to participate in community service, cleaning up the area near the Brook and helping to ensure that the Monoosnoc Brook greenway remains a great community asset. Dress in work clothes and wear sturdy shoes; we’ll provide the trash bags, work gloves, and snacks.
Monoosnoc Brook is a major tributary to the North Nashua River, running nearly 6 miles through downtown before joining the North Nashua near the Mall at Whitney Field. The beauty of the Brook has made it an appealing place for walking paths and small parks, including the one in the area of the Mall.
We are delighted to do this spring clean-up during National Volunteer Week with the support of the Massachusetts Service Alliance. And we’d like to thank American Rivers, Leominster Credit Union, Peters Auto Center, Panera Bread, and Rollstone Bank & Trust for their support through donations of supplies, equipment, and snacks.
Pre-registration is encouraged for planning purposes. To register, or for more information, please contact Kathryn Nelson at KathrynN@NashuaRiverWatershed.org. Meet at the Rollstone Bank & Trust parking lot, 24 Monument Square at 1:00 p.m. Welcome back spring and celebrate Earth Month and National Volunteer Week by joining us on April 12th! FREE
