Civil War Encampment on Harvard Common
Saturday, June 7th | 9:00 am - 5:00 pm
Sunday June 8th | 9:00 am - Noon
Re-enactors of the 28th Massachusetts Volunteer Infantry Regiment, known as the "Irish Brigade" will encamp on the Harvard Common. These re-enactors or "living historians" will recreate life within the regiment during their 1864 campaign. They will participate in activities such as drills, sick call, mail call and interact with visitors.
Visitors may enter the encampment to observe, to interact with the soldiers, and to hear about the war from the soldier's perspective. The encampment will include a civilian area where visitors can learn about the civilian's perspective of the war. There will be drilling and other hands-on activities for children. To learn more ...
