Camp Stevens Memorial in Ayer which marks the Civil War

Barry E. Schwarzel of Ayer will tell the illustrated story of the 53rd Massachusetts Regiment which was made up of men recruited mostly from local communities. This infantry regiment of about 1,000 men trained at what was once called Groton Junction, now Ayer, at Camp Stevens and fought in the Civil War with the Union's Third Army to clear Confederate troops out of the Mississippi River basin in Louisiana.
Free and open to the public. The museum will be open from 10-3.
