The NRWA and the Wild and Scenic Stewardship Council would like to invite you to our free zoom presentation “BioMap: Bringing Conservation to Communities”. We think this new tool will be of interest as we work to protect critical water and land resources, wildlife habitat, and create more resilient communities.
WHEN: Wednesday, May 17, 2023 from 4:00 to 5:00 p.m.
WHERE: On Zoom. Register today for the Zoom link.
WHAT: The newly-enhanced BioMap from the Massachusetts Division of Fisheries and Wildlife (MassWildlife) and The Nature Conservancy in Massachusetts is an online resource that identifies critical land and waterways throughout Massachusetts that are most in need of conservation. BioMap’s comprehensive approach identifies the most critical habitats for rare species, fish, and wildlife, along with intact and climate resilient ecosystems and landscapes. It includes regional connectivity data, statewide conservation priorities, and resources unique to each municipality for making informed local decisions. This presentation will cover what’s new with BioMap, a live demonstration, and time for questions.
Our presenters will be Andy Finton, Conservation Ecologist with The Nature Conservancy in MA. Andy was the Project Manager for the first BioMap (2001), co-authored BioMap2 (2010), and co-led the development of the latest BioMap. Andy will be joined by Alec Kaisand and Sarah Wasserman, both BioMap Outreach Specialists with MassWildlife. Alec and Sarah provide user support for the newly enhanced BioMap conservation planning tool.
This presentation is co-sponsored by the Nashua River Watershed Association’s Climate Impact Committee and the Nashua, Squannacook, and Nissitissit Rivers Wild & Scenic Stewardship Council.
