Stretch Code Informational Session
March 23, 7:00 p.m.
AyerTown Hall
Become an informed voter. For Ayer to become a designated “Green Community” the town must vote for the Stretch Code at the Ayer Town Meeting on May 9. To achieve this designation, town meeting must adopt a building code that improves energy efficiency for new construction. The stretch energy code provides a streamlined and cost effective route to achieving approximately 20% better energy efficiency for new residential and commercial buildings compared to the current baseline energy code.
In accordance with the Green Communities Act, up to $10 million per year is available for qualifying communities to implement significant energy-efficiency measures, construct large renewable energy projects, or pursue other innovative projects to reduce their fossil fuel energy consumption.
By Being a Green Community, we will
Shrink energy costs in municipal buildings.
Be able to access Green Community Grant funds to make Ayer even greener.
Foster clean energy technologies.
Promote energy-efficient construction of homes, businesses and municipal buildings.
Become a better place to live, work and play.
