UPDATE: OFFICIAL PUBLIC ADVISORY REGARDING the MBTA AYER COMMUTER RAIL STATION

Officials from the Town of Ayer attended a meeting with Officials from the MBTA, MART, and Mr. Phil Berry this afternoon regarding the issue(s) of public access to the MBTA Ayer Commuter Rail Platform. MBTA has required and Mr. Berry has complied with the removal of the portion of the fence in front of the MBTA Ayer Commuter Train Platform to allow safe, direct public access to and from the Train Platform. The MBTA will work with Mr. Berry over the next thirty days regarding this issue(s).
All inquiries and questions involving access to the commuter rail station should be directed to the MBTA Customer Service Department at (617) 222-3200 Ext #3. The Town of Ayer will continue to keep the Public informed as it receives new/updated information.
Officials from MART will make a formal presentation regarding an update on the “Ayer Rail Trail Commuter Surface Parking Lot Project” on Tuesday, May 6, 2014 at 7:30pm as part of the Selectmen’s meeting. The Town of Ayer remains in consultation with the MBTA and MART regarding this matter. The Town of Ayer will respond to public safety/health emergencies at the Train Station Platform.
