This is the question all artists get asked at one time or another, and it’s also one of the main challenges facing artists at all levels of experience: How do you generate and develop good ideas? Exploring nature, art and history and making a sketchbook part of your everyday life can keep ideas flowing. Artists make visual notes, taking stock of thoughts and impressions that do not necessarily involve words. Whether you are an artist feeling blocked, or someone wishing to create a personal visual journal, this class is for you. We will make a small, portable sketchbook and use it to explore visual note taking in a historic landscape. Specific techniques for recording visual information will be used. Sketching, painting, and collage techniques will be demonstrated. Drawing experience not necessary.
