SUMMARY:Public Policy Committee Meeting - an Olympic sized discussion
DESCRIPTION:Join us for an Olympic sized discussion at our next Public Policy Committee!\n\n \n\n \n\nAs a reminder\, we have our regularly scheduled Public Policy Meeting Tuesday\, May 5th at 8am at the Chamber Office.\n\n\n\nOn Tuesday\, May 5th\, we will learn from Erin Murphy (Chief Operating Officer and Chief Bid Officer for the Boston 2024 Committee) why the Boston 2024 Committee believes the games will enhance and be a catalyst for the Commonwealth\, serving to accelerate the delivery of improvements in transportation\, infrastructure\, and housing.\n\n\n\nYou may recall\, at our April Public Policy Meeting we were joined by Chris Dempsey of the No Olympics Boston group. Chris' presentation provided some great statistics on the cons of being an Olympics host\, including the request from the Olympic Committee for the host government to guarantee regardless of cost (which has happened 100% of the time since 1960 games and is a direct cost to the taxpayers). \n\n \n\nThis is your opportunity to learn more\, and ask questions. \n\n \n\nAdditionally\, we will also be joined by Representative Jennifer Benson's new District Director\, Sean Rourke. Representative Benson represents the people of the 37th Middlesex District which includes Ayer\, Harvard\, Lunenburg and Shirley from the Nashoba Valley region. Representative Benson was just recently appointed as House Chair of the Committee on Consumer Protection and Professional Licensure.\n\n \n\nPlease let us know if you plan on attending.
