Manzi\, Jr.\n\nChairman & CEO of \n\nFidelity Bank\n\nas Distinguished Citizen for 2014\n\n \n\nThe Nashua Valley Council of the Boy Scouts of America has selected Edward F. Manzi Jr.\, to receive its Distinguished Citizen Award for 2014.\n\n \n\nA Webster\, Massachusetts native\, Ed Manzi graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Massachusetts Lowell with a B.S. in Accounting. Manzi then earned his M.B.A. with high distinction in 1992 from Bentley College and is a current Certified Public Accountant.\n\n \n\nManzi held executive management positions at several New England community banks. After serving as the President & CEO of the Shirley Co-operative Bank for seven years\, Manzi became President & CEO of Fidelity Bank in July of 1997. Under his leadership the bank has expanded significantly throughout Central Massachusetts\, including a strong and growing presence in Worcester\, all because of their unique approach to banking known as LifeDesign Banking. In August 2010\, Manzi was appointed Chairman of Fidelity Bank.\n\n \n\nManzi has received awards from the Northern Worcester County Association of Realtors\, Mount Wachusett Community College\, and the Nashoba Valley Chamber of Commerce for his support of the Central Massachusetts community. In addition\, under Manzi's leadership\, Fidelity Bank has been recognized by the North American Energy Efficiency Partnership and the Worcester Business Journal for their "green" building initiatives as well as recognition from American Banker magazine for innovation in Banking.\n\n \n\nIn addition to his responsibilities at the Bank\, Ed is the Founder and Chairman of the Shine Initiative\, a nonprofit organization celebrating its tenth year in leadership in the fight to raise awareness and eliminate stigma regarding mental illness in children and young adults. He is also a member of the Board of Directors of the Co-operative Central Bank\, CBERA\, Community Health Link\, and GVNA\; a member of the Audit Committee for the Health Foundation of Central Massachusetts and the United Way of North Central Massachusetts\; as well as many other Board and civic involvements.\n\n \n\nThe Distinguished Citizen is chosen for his/her long standing commitment to our communities. Their efforts have helped improve the quality of life for thousands of people who are less fortunate. Their tireless leadership\, energy and vitality have been a true inspiration to all who service within numerous charitable organizations. The values learned through the Boy Scouts are much the same as the values held by our Distinguished Citizen.\n\n \n\nA celebratory dinner will be held in his honor on Wednesday\, June 11\, 2014 at the Double Tree by Hilton in Leominster.
