Ethiopia remained an independent country throughout European colonialism and became a symbol of African freedom\; many of the more interesting facets of its history\, society\, and religion are largely unknown outside the African Continent.\n\n\n\nThis exhibit uses religious art and artifacts to illustrate the Judeo-Christian traditions of Ethiopia as a way to explore this most ancient and fascinating nation. It features 60 small icons\, triptychs\, larger icons and illuminated manuscripts. The Museum's own collection of Ethiopian icons\, stone carved triptychs and sacred objects will also be on display.
