SUMMARY:* Hike the Oxbow National Wildlife Refuge (at Fruitlands Museum)
DESCRIPTION:Hike the Oxbow National Wildlife Refuge\n\nSat\, 06/06/2015 - 10:00am \n\nCost... FREE \n\n \n\n \n\nLocated next door to Fruitlands\, the 1\,667-acre Oxbow National Wildlife Refuge lies along almost eight miles of the Nashua River. Within its boundary is a diverse array of habitats beneficial to wildlife: wetlands\, forested uplands\, old fields\, oxbow ponds\, and\, of course\, the river itself. The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service manage the refuge for a variety of wildlife species\, with a special emphasis on migratory waterfowl and birds that are dependent on grass/shrub land habitat. Join naturalists and biologists from the Friends of the Oxbow and the Harvard Conservation Trust on a two-hour guided hike of the Oxbow. Along the way we will look for wildlife and their habitats as well as signs of spring in the wetlands\, forests\, and ponds. No hiking experience necessary. Waterproof footwear and outerwear is recommended. \n\n \n\nSpace is limited. To reserve your spot on the walk\, email programming@fruitlands.org or call (978) 456-3924\, ext. 291
