SUMMARY:* From the Tropics to Your Backyard: The Wonders of Spring Bird Migration
DESCRIPTION:From the Tropics to Your Backyard: The Wonders of Spring Bird Migration\n\nTuesday\, May 6\, 2014\, 7:00 to 8:30 p.m.\, NRWA River Resource Center\, 592 Main Street (Rt. 119) in Groton\n\nAfter a long cold winter\, birders in New England eagerly anticipate the spring bird migration\, which runs from mid-March to the end of May. The NRWA invites the public to learn more about New England's spring bird migration at our free presentation by Mark Archambault\, NRWA Smart Growth Circuit Rider and avid birder. Learn the basic facts of which bird species migrate when\, the habitats they frequent\, and how best to view them while they pass through our region or arrive to nest. This program will cover the 'schedule' of bird migration and highlight many of the amazing feats of long distance migrants\, some of whom migrate all the way from the Amazon basin and beyond. This program is geared to birders of all levels\, and should serve as a good refresher course before heading into the field this spring. This program is open to the public\; pre-registration is appreciated for planning purposes\, but is not required. To pre-register\, contact Mark Archambault at (978) 448-0299\, or email MarkA@NashuaRiverWatershed.org. And save the date on your calendars for a Bird Walk with Mark to look for spring migrants and nesters on Saturday\, May 24 at 7:00 a.m. (raindate May 25)\, meeting at NRWA and then heading out to the General Fields/Surrenden Farm in Groton.
