Then fling yourself into the season.\n\n \n\nA Fall Fling fundraiser will be held on Saturday\, Oct. 19\, from 2 to 6 p.m. at Indian Head Farm\, 232 Pleasant St.\n\n \n\n"Richard Wheeler\, a very active board member of the Berlin Art and Historical Society and a member of the Wheeler family\, owners of Indian Head Farm\, came up with the idea of a 'fall fling' and was enthusiastically joined by the rest of the Wheeler family\, farm employees and Historical Society officers and board members\," said Marsha Johnston\, a member of the society.\n\n \n\nFor $12\, you can watch your tagged pumpkin fly through the air and\, hopefully\, splash down on target to win a prize.\n\n \n\n"The trebuchet was engineered and built by Richard's nephews\, Nate and James Wheeler and some of their friends\," Johnston said\, adding she believes this is a first for Berlin.\n\n \n\nThe Fall Fling is sponsored by the Berlin Art and Historical Society\, as well as 19 Carter (OMEC) and benefits restoration projects at the Bullard House\, on Woodward Avenue\, and the Old Methodist Episcopal Church\, at 19 Carter St.\n\n \n\n"Both of the projects are located in the center of Berlin and will keep Berlin's community spirit alive with educational and social activities\," Johnston said.\n\n \n\nThe rain date is Sunday\, Oct. 20.\n\n \n\nIn addition to the fling\, there will be face painting\, pumpkin decorating\, scarecrow making\, food and hayrides for a small fee\, plus free country music.\n\n \n\n"We are encouraging people to come in costume\, bring their own chair and clothes for scarecrow making\," not to mention watching pumpkins flying through the air\, Johnston said.\n\n \n\nFor information\, visit townofberlin.com/town/historical\; oldchurchrenovation.org\; indianheadfarm.com or Facebook.
