SUMMARY:* Dam Removal and River Restoration in Massachusetts
DESCRIPTION:Nashua River Watershed Association\n\n	Upcoming Programs October 2012\n\n\nDam Removal and River Restoration in Massachusetts\n\nWednesday\, October 17\, 2012 at 7:00 p.m.\n\nNRWA River Resource Center\, 592 Main Street (Rt. 119) in Groton\n\n \n\nA dam removal movement is sweeping the nation\, with a growing awareness and appreciation of the numerous linked benefits. This talk will describe the current climate\, common issues\, and science behind dam removal\; including an overview of two new dam removal projects in the Nashua River watershed. Alex holds a Master's Degree in Aquatic Ecology and Watershed Science from the University of Vermont\, and has worked in the environmental field for the past 20 years in private\, public\, and academic settings. A self-proclaimed "stream nerd\," he currently is managing a variety of dam removal and other restoration projects in Massachusetts.\n\n \n\nThis program is free and open to the public.
