SUMMARY:* Clinton Cultural District Initiative
DESCRIPTION:Click image for full size\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nClinton Cultural District Initiative \n\nKickoff Presentation and Site Walk \n\nMonday\, September 17\, 2012 @ 6:30pm. \n\nSelect Chamber\, Clinton Town Hall\n\nEach day\, Clinton is being discovered by new visitors\, drawn here by our museums and galleries\, our shops\, restaurants and cafes\, by music and cinema\, and by our remarkable townscape. This "creative economy" that draws people here is enriching not only our pocketbooks\, but our quality of life- and it is growing! To better support and encourage these businesses\, the Town of Clinton is exploring the viability of seeking designation as a "Cultural District"\, and invites you to participate in a kickoff presentation\, to be held Monday\, September 17\, at 6:30pm in Clinton Town Hall. A walk of the proposed district will immediately follow. \n\n \n\nThe Massachusetts Cultural Council has defined a cultural district as a specific geographical area in a city or town that has a concentration of cultural facilities\, activities\, and assets. It is a walkable\, compact\, and distinctive environment. The Cultural District Initiative aims to encourage communities to strengthen their authentic sense of place\, while stimulating economic activity\, improving the experiences of visitors to our communities\, and creating a higher quality of life. \n\n \n\nThe Town of Clinton has received a District Local Technical Assistance (DLTA) award from the Montachusett Regional Planning Commission to assist us in this effort. Funding for the DLTA Program is provided by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. MRPC will be assisting the Town in the identification of specific parcels\, properties and buildings to be included within the proposed Clinton Cultural District. Such identification will include the cultural assets associated with each property. MRPC Staff and Phil Duffy\, Clinton's Community and Economic Development Director\, will facilitate the kickoff presentation and site walk on September 17th.\n\n \n\nFor more information\, please call Clinton's Community and Economic Development Office at (978)365-4113\, or visit the Massachusetts Cultural Council's website at: www.massculturalcouncil.org/
