SUMMARY:* Bird Walk & Survey near Baker Brook in Fitchburg
DESCRIPTION:Bird Walk & Survey near Baker Brook in Fitchburg\n\nSaturday\, April 27 from 10:00 to 11:30 AM\n\n \n\nMark Archambault\, NRWA Smart Growth Circuit Rider and avid birder\, will lead a walk and volunteer bird survey of land in Fitchburg near the headwaters of Baker Brook. People interested in the bird survey should have some experience identifying the more common birds of Massachusetts\, though beginners are also welcome. By late-April\, spring migration will be in full swing\, and we'll be focusing on birds passing through the area as well as those likely to nest in this location. Mark will supply checklists and provide a short 'tutorial' on likely birds to be encountered before leading the group down the trail. Please bring binoculars and a bird guide\, if possible. Consider insect repellent & sunscreen.\n\n \n\nThe meeting location for the April 27 birding survey is at the Fitchburg State University parking lot adjacent to the Wallace Civic Center on John Fitch Highway. View a Google map. The survey will be held on a mile long trail that begins on the FSU's Michael Riccards Field off of Pearl Hill Road and travels north through the Gelinas Open Space tract. This trail follows an unnamed tributary stream to Baker Brook. Adjacent land that appears to be good bird habitat may also be examined. Registration is required for planning purposes. To register\, or for more information\, please contact Mark Archambault at MarkA@NashuaRiverWatershed.org
