But how can we do that in a way that empowers our immigrant neighbors rather than pushing them to the fringes of white-dominant culture and keeping them as outsiders? That's exactly the question Karen Gonz lez explores in Beyond Welcome. "A top-notch Christian look at immigration\, humane and full of heart."--Publishers Weekly. There will be time for questions after the talk. She is a speaker\, writer\, public theologian\, and immigrant advocate\, who herself immigrated from Guatemala as a child. Karen is a former public-school teacher and attended Fuller Theological Seminary\, where she studied theology and missiology.\n\nFor the last 15 years\, she has been a non-profit professional\, currently working for an organization that serves asylum seekers.\n\n \n\nAbout Habitat for Humanity North Central Massachusetts  \n\nHabitat for Humanity North Central Massachusetts offers a hand up\, not a hand out\, to hard-working\, low-income central Massachusetts families seeking affordable home ownership. Habitat NCM builds and repairs simple\, decent houses with people in need\, serving 30 towns and cities in North Central Massachusetts.  Habitat NCM also operates the Leominster ReStore\, 637 Lancaster Street (Route 117)\, which raises funds through the sale of discounted and recycled materials and furniture.
