DESCRIPTION:Apple-a-Day\n\nSunday\, October 16th\, at 6:00 PM\nat the Lancaster Community Center\n\nSpeaker: Nancy Riggs\nThis presentation will cover:\n\n The apple tree's lovely blossoms\, its famous fruit\, the history of apple production and the industry. This is a fall presentation and includes an "apple tasting" with five in-season varieties of apples fresh from the orchard. \n\nAbout the speaker: \n\nNancy Riggs retired as a public-school teacher after 33 years. She holds two masters degrees and is a Certified Master Gardener as well as a Tree Steward.  Nancy and her husband live in a 1780's farmhouse with two trees dating back over 200 years as well as many newer Cary Award winning trees and shrubs. The Cary Award of Tower Hill promotes outstanding plants for New England. \n\nNancy has enjoyed serving as president\, secretary\, horticultural chair\, program co-chair and plant sale chair for the Holden Garden Club. However\, her real passion is tending and puttering away in her one-acre garden. Her garden has been on numerous garden tours including The New England Botanical Garden at Tower Hill "City Spaces and Country Places\," (x2) The Master Gardener Garden Tour and Preservation Worcester's "Historic House and Garden Tour". \n\n \n\n \nMembers: free Non-members: $5.00
